I would like to check the fluid level in my manual tranny, but I cant get the filler nut open. Its just too stuck, and there is not much room to move down there.
I think my only option is to get a ratchet extension on the job, anyone else had similar problem ?
The reason for wanting to check the level is that when the car is driven in anything but 5th gear, it seems to make a noise thats hard to describe.... kinda bearing type noise.
In the old days one would have added a tube of Molyslip, or similar product and this would probably have cured the noise.
Can you add an addative to the synthetic gear oil that I have in my 1997 NG900 gearbox, is this advisable.
I am certain that first check should be to check level.
again any comments welcome.
cheers
Ed.
