I have a 900s 2.3L with 104k on her. The water pump was leaking and I brought the car to the dealer to replace it, which they quoted $250.00 parts and labor. But that’s not the problem. They told me what I believe is the timing chain is rattling in such a way they believe it is on the way out. The said it is loose and will cut into the oil pump at some point. (Could be now or in a year.) When it does you have one minute to turn the engine off or it goes to that great junkyard in the sky. To fix, it will cost between $1250.00 & 1500.00 to correct. They must pull the engine etc. etc.
They recommended trading it in, which I am considering.
I am looking at 2002 93 models.
What can I expect ballpark on a trade. The car was well kept by the dealer and is clean.
What are the incentives out there to buy vs. lease.
What is a fair price for a 93SE with an Automatic.
Can I go to SAAB for a discount? I do not believe an engine should be on the out at 104k.
Input would be appreciated
Thanks
Johnny
