Sound like the engine mounts are broken. That would cause the juddering when shifting problem. Things can get jarred loose very easily. when the Saab was hit, it most likely accelerated to a fair percentage of the impact speed of the vehicle that hit her and decelerated instantly when her Saab hit the car in front. It absorbed and released quite a bit of energy instantly, and this instant acceleration and deceleration can happen in less than a second. A lot can happen to the car, as well as to the occupants. I hope your wife is well.
