After sitting for 10 hours, even a perfect system have lost all of it's pressure, but if the fuel pump check valve would be bad, it would also drain all the fuel back into tank.
It's kind of two scenarios.
The fuel line from pump to injectors can and should be filled with gasolin, not necessarily under pressure but at least filled. So as soon as the fuel pump kicks in, it only needs to pressurize the fuel that is already in the line.
If the checkvalve at pump is bad, all the fuel will eventually drain all the way back into tank, and when you try to start the car, the fuel pump first have to fill the line going to injectors, and after that pressurize it. Which can take several seconds.
Have you ever changed a fuel filter and noticed how much you need to crank the car before it starts?
To verifie or rule out, you need to hook a pressure gauge up to the fuel line and leave it on during driving and over night.
