Your explanation on the oil burn off makes sense.
That sensor was definitely oil-fouled and looked a little scorched, even. But the check engine light isn't going off. And we know the light is operable, because we first pulled the O2 sensor on our first test drive and the light was on. We removed it because we considered it a possible hazard to the cat converter burning up if the O2 sensor was malfunctioning. Unfortunately, the car was a loud sloppy mess without the sensor in, so we plugged it back in and took our chances.
I'll look at the plugs. What should I look for there?
And one of my buddies mentioned a quick oil change - around 500 or 1000 miles to make sure I clean out the miscellaneous bits of broken turbo that could be floating in the system. What's your take on that?
Thanks for your help so far.
