John- I'm using AMSOIL 0W-30 in a 1985 Saab 900Turbo, a 1985 Volvo 245 turbo, a Saab 9000Turbo, and a 1990 Dodge Van. I do yearly oil drains or oil samples on the turbos (about 10K on the most used). Back when I was driving a lot more (with fewer cars), I ran 25,000 on the non-turbos and 10K on the turbos (or a year).
Used to use AMSOIL 10W-40 (all they had), then went to 10W-30, and started using the 0W-30 when it came out. Also have that in my daughters NG900 SE turbo.
Understand this is biased, since I have been using and selling AMSOIL for over 25 years. Yes, AMSOIL is a better oil than Mobil 1. Both use PAO as the primary base stock--the major difference is in the choice of other base stocks for blending and the additive selection. AMSOIL is designed for long drain intervals--Mobil 1 is capable of some extended drain in most applications, but I wouldn't recommend extending it beyond the auto manufacturer's recommended interval without oil analysis.
In my opinion, Mobil 1 got cost engineered when it was reformulated after the merger (takeover) by Exxon. I think the latest Mobil 1 formulation is better than the Tri-Synthetic.
If you can't find a local dealer, you can get it direct from AMSOIL.
