Mobil1 is almost as good as Amsoil but Amsoil is made entirely from Polyaphaolephins (PAO)refered to as base IV oils which are the real ingreedient of truly synthetic oils most other oils like Castrol Faketec are made from base III oils which are mineral oils severely hydrocracked to remove waxes and other "contaminants" which are the major disadvantage of dino oils. This produces base oils with very high Viscosity indexes (VI) about 130-135 vs 90-110 for base II dino oils(this is close to some dino 10W-30 formulations already containing viscosity improving additives) Therefore they resemble real synthetics made from PAO's or esters Base III oils can be made as good as synthetics but will never perfom as good at both High and low ends nor are they as durable. Also the Amsoil has higher total base number (TBN) 12.5 mg KOH/g vs 8.5 mg KOH/g for Mobil1 this neutralizes acids formed during combustion and also (like washig soda)keeps yor engine clean for example castrol dino 10W-30 has TBN of only 6mg KOH/g which is common for dino oils. Ok having said all that Mobil1 and Amsoil are both PAO formulated with Amsoil having higher TBN which really matters if you want to practice extended drain intervals. These are good oils however 0W-30 might not be as good in hot summer as 5W-40 or 0W-40, use Mobil1 0W-40 during hot weather your camshaft will thank you for it.

P.s
Also Chevron makes their synthetics from PAO stock TBN if I remember correctly a bit higher than Mobil1
