First of all. Invest in a Haynes (sp?) manual as soon as possible. It will pay for itself on your first Tune Up, let alone a DIY job. The manual lacks a lot of information, but it is the best book out there for Saab DIY. There are other very useful websites for the DIY, like Alldata (this one has a fee I believe).
2. The headlights glass are easy to remove and clean. They get a little dirty for reasons that are unclear to me (obviously they are not immune to particulates). Make sure that your do NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS to clean the silver reflector of the headlights. Any ammonia based window cleaner will complety strip the reflective material. Warm water and patience are best. Beware of flying clips. Beware of sharp edges around the headlight glass. Overall this is an easy job. Patience with the rubber seal it can be tricky to keep in place.
4. Most saab users in these boards, from what I have read, notice that the inside thread in the front tires wears out faster than other sections of the tires. If you take the car to a Joe Shmoe tire place they will suspect that the aligment is way off, when in fact, this appears to be a common Saab problem. In other words, if the inside thread wear off faster than other sections of the the tire thread, you are in the same boat as most of us. Aligment never hurts, as long as they do not try to bend anything :)
5. Did you try using a pin to remove the crud from the noozles? Mine were clogged and a pin was all that was needed.
6. The door panels are actually easy to remove. If you get the Haynes manual you will have a good frame of reference to work from. I believe the motors in those windows do go bad. However, because of the position of the window buttons, I would first remove the buttons and clean them. Often, liquids from the cup holder splash down the window button in the center control providing poor electrical connections. Again, with the Haynes manual at hand you should be able to clean these buttons, remove the door panel and look for lose connections. It is certainly worth checking out before taking it to the dealer.
