It all depends on the shops willingness to work with you. The easy way for a busy shop is to just say that you need a new motor assembly @ $1300.000
Installing the proper brace kit comes up to about $140.00 including checking and adjusting the potentiometers of the top (if nothing else is broken).
If the grinding have been going on to far and the teeth are all worn out, I do have a used motor assembly with the brace kit installed for half the price of a new one.
