I tried to buy a Saab sports exhaust from the local (Pasadena) Saab dealer a couple of years ago. They said it was out of production. [This was before I learned about DIY resources like eeuroprts and genuinesaab.com.]
So, I had an indy muffler shop make me a copycat 3" stainless system from the original flex pipe back. They used the largest and "quietest" generic Magnaflow free-flow muffler and center resonator that would fit the available space. I haven't heard a genuine Saab sports exhaust yet, so not sure if my replica system sounds anything like it. I was hoping for something like the subtle burbling OG900 turbo sound I recall. Under heavy acceleration, mine really bellows, but in light-foot driving, it has mellowed some since new. It isn't obnoxiously loud, and not particularly rice-racery, but I wish it were about 30-50% quieter.
Small power gains from the larger tubing aren't an issue now that I have upgraded the ECU, intercooler, airbox, etc. So, if this one fails or needs replacing for some reason, I might go back to stock.
My 2¢
