Actually I live in metro Atlanta now. Left OC in 1993 but I make it back home a few times per year. I owned 2 detailing businesses while I lived there and cut my teeth in the detailing biz with both mobile and in-shop detailing.
Anyhoo, when it comes to products its easier to look at it from a process perspective. IOW, when you want to clean your car, you have a series of tasks. Do you have products to accomplish those tasks?
For example, you need to wash and dry your car. What tools and products do you need to do the job? Bucket, wash mitt, shampoo, chamois or drying towels, wheel cleaner, tire dressing, brushes, etc.
Many of my customers want a basic detailing kit so they can maintain their cars between full bore detail jobs. I try to help them make sure they don't buy a lot redundant stuff but forget to buy something important.
I have about 7-8 different tire dressings. All have their own look. One of my faves is Vinylex from the makers of Lexol. Comes in an aqua colored bottle and works great on rubber, plastic, and vinyl.
I'd be happy to help you refine your product selection if you'd like. Feel free to email me at "bretfraz@excite.com" and we can chat.
