CCA, when absorbed in wood, is not a hazard.
Two things, however, are: dust and "runoff".
The dust, of course, happens when you cut the wood. It is this reason Home Depot, Lowes, etc are not supposed to cut CCA for you. (They usually do, though)
The other is runoff. You know when CCA lumber feels wet? That is excess CCA. This runs of the wood after a couple of rains, into the ground. Generally, unless you drink well water (we still do, although aren't supposed to), it is harmless to your family. The concentration used is minimal anyway.
If you are concerned, however, let the wood season for a few months (dry out) and treat with a product like Olympic Water Seal or CWF-UV. These products penetrate the wood. Others, like Thompsons - no matter what they say - contains wax. This wax protects wood like it would a car -by setting on the surface. If applied to heavily, you get footprints in the "wax". Since wood absorbs, unlike automotive paint, a penetrating sealer is best.
