I'm 6'2" with long arms & legs. I ride 20.5" frame bikes mostly (3 MTBs, 1 road bike).
Typical frame sizing on a mountain bike is center of bottom bracket to top of the seat tube. It used to be to the top of the top tube, but most MTBs now feature a dropped top tube to give better standover clearance. You should have about 2-3" clearance standing over the bike.
Like Jeff said, a good LBS should be able to size you. Make sure the bike is comfortable - fit is THE most important aspect.
Here's a good MTBing forum... http://www.mtbr.com.
Good luck - JMJ (aka Birdman)
