9 and 3... Posted by Clay McNeely [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Hand positions with airbags.. what's "best"?, Noel, Fri, 29 Oct 2004 06:33:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was just reading a Saab article earlier this week and they recommend the 9 and 3 position. They do state that the 10 and 2 position is unsafe because of the airbag, but lowering the hands a bit to the 9 and 3 position is much more practical and safe. Also, it works well with most steering wheels (thinking about my NG900) because you can rest your hands on the upper steering wheel spokes.
So long as your vehicle is equipped with an airbag and you have your hands anywhere on the steering wheel, you are in danger of injuring those particular limbs. Airbags have undoubtedly saved many lives, but they have also injured individuals who did not respect them and interact with them properly. There is no substitute for a seatbelt, though...ALWAYS buckle up.
If nothing else, 9 and 3 are Saab numbers, so we should all be partial to them, anyway. :-) Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
