If you really use lots of electricity, it may be worthwhile upgrading the wiring that carries most of the current. This may be between the house and the street or between the main breaker box and subpanels. Highly loaded wiring wastes lots of energy. It's not a firehazard if done within the accepted rules, but the heat is energy being wasted and the resulting voltage drop is what makes your lights dim. You may need an electrician to figure out where the high current loads run through.
You could also reduce consumption some. With ever tightning regulations, fewer nuclear power plants, and higher energy costs, electricity is poised to get expensive. Replacing the electric stove with propane will save a good amount of electrical costs and load. propane or oil hot water will save a bunch too.
