and DSL modem connection should be pretty easy. It seems like Linksys wireless routers WRT54G and WRT54GS are alway on sale, just check your local chain electronic stores for a good price (under $70 after rebate).
I think for your needs, the WRT54G would do nicely at a cheaper price ($50 after rebate). You can do without the speedbooster, turbo, etc.. marketing hype as your Sony probably has a standard 11g device. I have yet to see anything connecting at more than 54mps with the speedbooster thingy if the machines are not next to each other.
If your Sony is "smart", it should detect the wireless router signal and you are good to go 8-).
Linksys routers have various unofficial Linksys support groups and you can find a lot of information from those. Also, Linksys discloses their router firmware and people have added various features and the modified firmwares are free with few exceptions. Have fun !
