With all due respect, I disagree with SaabHubby. Here's my reasoning:
1. You paid top dollar to the dealership for a car that needed an expensive repair one month later.
2. You bought their recommended extended warranty product (with high tech option) which gave them another healthy chunk of profit.
3. Their employee (the departed service writer) advised you that the repair would be covered by the warranty company, so you did not seek other lower cost alternatives.
4. You are a loyal customer of the dealership and of the service department, and you plan to continue giving them your business in the future, if crossing their driveway doesn't give you a sick stomach.
This is the perfect case for compromise. Perhaps you can pay half, or buy the parts while they pay for the labor. If you talk to the service manager and tell him you really want to remain friends, he should find a way that doesn't make you feel cheated.
Good luck.
Dave
