I don't think I've owned a car that had red rear turn signals, except maybe a '59 VW bug.
I think it is a vital safety feature.
I have seen Hondas with clear rear turn signals that flash white. Either Honda is being stupid or people are changing their bulbs. But I've seen this on a couple of Accords, a Civic, and I think, some kind of Mitsubishi. Very bad, especially on a dark rainy night.
