What I mean is that if the others, that are real lovers of the car, do not abandon the brand it will survive. I for one would gladly put $2,000 towards its survival. In another post this was a suggestion. Now we only need 999,999 people to match.
The US is not an automobile society it is a Corporate society. That is why the economy is crashing into failure mode. Too big to fail ... Bust up the corporations and that will fix that statement. The Banking bailout did not fix the 'too big to fail' issue they used the money to buy each other and make themselves BIGGER!!! Corporations benefit, CEOs and Management get bonuses and the people take it in the shorts.
What GM did was provide some money to SAAB and strip some of its identity away from the brand. Anyone else miss the Weather Band radio! How about one torx tool ten minutes and you have the front side markers, headlamps and grill off the car! Try that with a GM whatever or the new Saab. Scandinavia is famous for good design. Return the design to them. I love the sportcombi, but do miss the hatchback. The rear hatch was so aerodynamic that seldom did the rear wiper have to be used on my 2001 9-3.
Also, may be a simple add-on to the rant, but WHY can the US citizen not have a really fuel efficient car. Yeah I like a sporty handling car, but the does not eliminate that same vehicle from have mileage in the upper 30 MPG range. Yes to diesel and yes to diesel hybrid. Peuguot has been demonstrating one for some time as have some other companies. What of GM and its assorted brands. Ethanol blended sludge that DECREASES mileage and is more expensive to the owner of the car when considering its cost versus mileage.
Ethanol promotion, once again to the benefit of Cargill and ADM, BIG corporations. Yes farmers get a higher price, but at a much higher cost to them. Also nothing has been said of the environmental impact of Ethanol. A sad situation on its own.
Good Motoring to all!
