Between all my sons and daughters and sons- and daughters-in-law, we've got 5 Audis in the family, including and Allroad Quattro and a 2006 S4 wagon recently acquired from a nationally known race driver. Except for the oldest daughter and her English husband (who has the Allroad) way up in Connecticut, they all expect me to do a lot of the basic service work. On the one hand, the procedures are usually straightforward except for things like having to remove the front bumper to change timing belts (not as bad as it sounds) and badly located oil filters, but parts are expensive unless you know where to order and I think that the electronics are more likely to give trouble than they should be. Note that Audis ARE very different from VWs in most respects, except for the TT cars (#2 son has a TT convertible, but his daily driver is a '95 SAAB 9000 that I converted to FPT for him), which use the transverse engine VW layout rather than the longitudinal Audi system, which means "4matic" has almost nothing in common with "Quattro."
