it's really the power to weight ratio that matters here, and as Larry pointed out, it will be much better than the original 9-5 with 170hp. Actually, the 300hp Aero will be around 70hp/1000lbs. The base model with 220hp should be closer to 65. Compare that to 2002 9-5 linear at 52 and Aero at 71 (2004 Arc is about 62). So basically the new Aero should have comparable zip to the old Aero, and the base model should be comparable or a little better than the old Arc models. Not so bad.

Now vs the competition, BMW 535i is 74, but 335xi is 71. Audi A6 is closer to 80, though only 70 for the Avant. Somehow, the A6 sedan is quite light, at least on the spec sheet? The 4 cylinder 9-5 will be more comparable to BMW 328i which is 63. So the 9-5 will not blow away the competition here, but it is fairly competitive. It is not a light car!

And for perspective, a 1990 SPG was 59.4, a 1997 9000 Aero was 69.2, a 2002 Viggen was 72.6, and the current 9-3ss base model is 65.4. A modern Porsche 911 is 110 (144 for the turbo), and a 1996 Dodge Caravan was 42.2! The GMC Acadia we just rented was 58.4, and there seemed to be enough power to haul it around...
