I do think the viggen IC is not that good & the NG900 unit is just horendous
but I think the combonation of long time lean running under boost realy heats things up to the point where heatsoaking is hard to recover from
I did find out that this viggen had 2 software updates from saab
& Im thinking that drew in houstons buddy got richer results as well as vigges graphs because they were sitting on dynos when the AFs were taken
talk to any dyno operator which dynos turbos & they all see about 01:1 & as much as 1.5:1 diference between roadtesting & dynotesting
I think that the OE SW is designed to produce low emissions under boost which I respect but that this leads to pre ignition which the stock IC has trouble helping recovery from
its a combonation of thigs adding up in my opinion
I fully endorse the use of catalyst in exhaust systems & that a car be kept in a good state of tune for the environment as well as the longevity of the car but if you want to make power & keep the engine together under boost you have to run richer then what stock T7 does & running a better IC is a must in my opinion
I still am putting on a new AMM because I have to be sure that input is corect for tuning & I will post weather or not anything changes with that
one real curiosity was the throttle positions I recorded while driving I mean it never opened all the way up & like I said 65%-70% WOT thruought the RPM spann & they do seem to open the throttle more when you stomp on it & then it backs off throttle position by like 20% even if your foot is all the way into it I find that to be bizarre
there has to be maps in there to controll that as well as boost, timing, knock & fuel
Id like to spend allot of time tinkering :-)
what Ive done this week was asses the car, study it a bit & order parts
Im waiting for my device programmer to get back
there are some peculiarirys about the T7 ECU which are being atended to this weekend (programming snag) but I should have that together rite when the car is ready mechanicaly
the viggen also has a bad headgasket pissing oil all down the back of the engine which I need to replace before any real tuning is done
so wish me luck :-)
have a great weekend
JAK
