SDS has an optional fast idle solenoid, but this is mostly for startup. Otherwise, idling is set up with the load based fuel values and the idle screw. My car idles nicely, no problems.
SDS also has an optional AC idle relay thingy, which I'm not too familiar with because I don't run AC.
I dunno what other systems do for these "NORMAL driving modes", but in general, stand alone systems are designed for performance and racing. Guys who run stand alone generally accept some compromises compared to stock, but obviously the performance and tuning potentials are enormous. For example, with a few clicks here and there, I can program rudimentary anti-lag. Try doing that with stock systems!
