Thought long and hard about water issues

Well, sucking water into an engine equals engine death. Water cannot be compressed, so the rods give way. Picture a Blues Brother's moment:
"We threw a rod"
"Is that bad?"
"Yup."
I really don't want to kill my engine at this time. In reviewing installs by other Saabers, such as Jouko and Tino, I felt like any water intake from this set up would be the same if not less than what they experience. Gravity will help, plus the fact that it is not a sealed system. While sealing the system would make it more efficient, in this set up any water that actually makes it all the way to the filter will be disappated around the filter, instead of into the filter. Jouko expressed concerns about getting water in with his "through the fender" vent (Kick-ass mod, sir), and has driven in heavy downpours to find that his air filter was bone dry.
So, I would say the greater risk is getting water onto the open element from splashing into a big puddle which would have gotten the filter wet without my set up.
Hopefully, I will be right! I do not do too much driving in the rain, since I only drive for fun (I walk to work) If it is raining, I'm more likely to take my fiance's 89 900 Turbo. Keeps me from going too fast in the rain, given that it is an automatic! ;)
