H20 injection in internal combustion engines goes back to aircraft engines in the 1940's. The P51 Mustangs of WW2 used a h2o systems,GM in the 1960's used it on the turbo Olds and Chevy turbo flat6 at the time.It was and still is a band aid approach to problems incounted in turbo charging an engine.A properly designed and built installation should not have or need a H20 injection system.Something is wrong if h2o is needed on the system.I share this info to stop people from damaging their engines. The P51 engines that are left do not use h2o when air raced in the present day ,and the engines produced a hell of a lot more HP than WW2 engines. Kenny Bell who has produced more turbo HP motors(in this case Buicks)than any anyone else, won't use water injection because of the damage to the engines.Again yes it will place a band aid over the problem and allow higher boost levels than if it were not there, but it masks problems not cures them.
