I'm trying to decide what intercooler to buy, but can't afford the direct fit intercoolers for Jak or GS right now; especially since I need to buy a turbo and it looks like I'll have to get software and injectors to accompany it. I've seen several universal fit intercoolers from many different sources (that link being one of them) that are much more affordable. How do they compare to the direct fit units that Jak and GS sell, and how do they compare to a Viggen intercooler? I can get a Viggen intercooler for about $150, or I could buy a universal for about $100, but I don't know what would be the smarter buy. I figure if I bought the Viggen unit now, I could always sell it, for about the same as I would pay, later when I can buy the one Jak Stoll sells, but I would probably have to get a software reflash at that time as well.
