Well I have only been in one accident with while driving a Saab and it was between myself and a SUV. I was coming home on the dirt road I lived on at the time, and it was winter with a snowpack surface. Came around a corner doing about 30 mph (35 mph zone) and this kid pulled out of his driveway in a brand new isuzu rodeo without looking. I slid right into him. I was able to drive the saab off to the side of the road even though the front grill was trashed and the radiator was split wide open. The rodeo had to be taken out on a flatbed truck. I later found out that the rodeo had $8000 worth of damage done to it. They gave me $1700 for the 220,000 mile base model 85 900 I was driving.
But yes, Saabs are very safe cars when driven by people driving intelligently...ever notice that all the cars off theinterstate in the winter are sport utility vehicles? Living in Vermont I pass many many SUV's who dont know how to drive in the snow....I hate SUV's.
