I myself have actually experienced an accident in a saab too.
'87 900. I was traveling on a dirt road, I was going around 45 MPH when I came around a very sharp corner, I made sure to hug my side of the road, just as I got to the worst part of the corner, a logging truck hauling a large flatbed trailer with a D-9 tracktor came flying around right at me, I was either going to hit it head on, or end up in the woods, I chose the woods, I turned my wheel and aimed to the ditch he tried to aviod me but the huge blade on the tractor was hanging over the trailer about 2 feet on each side, and that caught the side of my car, ripping through the metal, breaking out my side window, and totally ripped the hatch off sending me spinning into the woods where I then hit a tree, breaking my grille and denting my hood. I had my seat belt on and walked away withought one scratch, and collected $1,800, I paid $1,000 for it to begin with.
A friend of mine was driving his bosses spare car one day (he had crashed his own) the car was also an '87 900 with 335K miles and a history of 2 previous major accidents (one with a 700 lb. moose). Anyhow, he was passing someone at a high rate of speed when his tire caught loose gravel in the ditch wich sent him out of control, he had 3 other passengers. They went off the road, into the ditch where they flipped end over end 3 times and landed in water. They all managed to get out, all uninjured. The car, upside down in a pool pf muddy water, had to shut off. It was pulled out and given to me for a parts car. It still runs and drives, even though it has sustained major damage too: the hood, doors, side panels, lights, grille, and the inside is all dried mud. I put a good battery in it not oo long ago, started it up, and drove it across the yard.
When it started, all I could think of was that dam Frankenstein movie "It's Alive, It's Alive!!!" lol
Are these cars simply bullet proof?
