yes, but reliably so? And what does it cost to build a Saab engine to those numbers? One of the other reasons for doing this that I forgot to mention is parts availabilty. Even out in the middle of nowhere you can get parts for GM cars, especially drivetrain parts related to the V8s. I'm hesistant to take my 900 out on any extended road trips, because once I get outside of the Metro Detroit area, few people have even heard of Saabs, let alone carry parts for them. But right now, I am just exploring options. I'm facing a gearbox rebuild in an otherwise solid 89 base model car, and looking at every option available to me. If I could pick up a turbo motor/gearbox and drop it in for cheap, I may go that route, retaining the FWD configuration.
