gordon> same here - I own an 88 900 aero - with 264,000km on it - bought it at 200,000km. So far I hate to think how much ive spent on basic stuff and also performance upgrades - but probably around aud$14,000 which is about US$7,500. But then I look at it like this - how many other 88 or even 85 Aeros or SPGs do you see on the road!
I would never sell my car now - wouldnt get half the money back on it Ive spent, but the enjoyment from driving a car with a distinct personality is great!
Ive replaced and done most things> Head gasket, Timing chain, converted from an auto to a manual and the list goes on. Its only now that its all come together and its running the best it ever has... consistent 20psi boost, no ping or lean running and she is a damn quick machine.

As others have said, you have gone this far... pay a bit more (maybe not all at once!) and get these things fixed - you have no "new car payments" and now own a great "individual car" - as we say in the saab car club down under to those considering buying other makes - Mainstream - who needs it!
