Something scary, i raced a Hybrid today and was behind... (long) Posted by Jon [Email] (#11) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jon) on Mon, 22 Oct 2001 20:40:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...until i hit 30 (i started out pretty easy from about 1k rpm) and it ran out of juice, then i flew past, those damn toyota prius things are slow as heck, but he had me for a few seconds, during that time i felt like i was going to die, i figured it would be like a freight train so i didn't exactly try to get a good launch, figuring it would be nothing, plus i'm worried about my spg, when i was going under the highway underpass (not on the highway but going under it) i stayed in second and punched it up to about 5 to 5500 rpms since the echo of the exhaust and turbo is sweet, but when i looked in my mirrors, i noticed smoke coming from the car, i'm not sure where, or if it may have been my tires spinning, sometimes i don't notice right away, since they don't squeal that much if at all while i'm moving more than 5 mph, and almost none under that. I hope nothin' is screwed up, i only have 94k miles on it and treat that thing better than my girlfriend (well, almost). Anyway, i think i've learned something from this, Like every other stock ricer, its good to 30, and then it sucks. (its 0-60 is like 13 seconds)
I hope someone enjoys reading this. My other question performance related was, does anyone know of a way to route my intake to a place where it can get air without taking in the hot air from the engine? Whenever i stop, within a minute, its over 3/4 of the way to the top of the temp. guage. and it starts to smell sometimes, not much, but a little bit, any suggestions like what kind of heatshield, or where to move it, or what piping to use, would be very much appreciated, and thanks for taking the time to read this enormously long post.
Getting embarrassed on a daily basis,
Jon
