reviewed a Honda Civic CRX which some U. Cal. students converted to electric. They could smoke the tires consistently every time. Plus, no shifting, so continuous acceleration O - 60. Of course they depleted the batteries when they did that, so they governed the motor, and found they could get much further range.
The car was blazingly quick when it wasn't governed. Who knows, once they figure out all the other issues with electric/hybrids, they may become quite attractive to us performance types in a few years...
For now, I'll continue tweaking my Saab!
