... are made for SCCA, etc, race classes that require DOT street legal tires. They have a shallow tread for this purpose. I went thru inspection with a brand new set, and inspector thought they were worn out ...
I use Kuhmo's on my rx7 'track' car, these were used by winners in some scca solo-1 and solo-2 events. Hard cores shave these.
For the street, Toyo RA1 and Yok A032's have the deepest tread, at 1/4 inch. Toyo's are the quietest. Can expect 10-20K miles life on street, depending on driving style, etc. Alignment very important.
