Its a case of high performance car and low perfomance driver, especially in the case of the early 911 turbo as you mentioned, they were the car to be seen in the 80's with loads of yuppies going out and buying them not having the faintest idea what they were letting themselves in for, then wondering why they were disappearing of the road through a hedge backwards.
The tt was the same to a lesser degree, a very stunning looking car that prompted people who liked the looks of the car and purchased on this alone, then they found it would do 150mph in a straight line which any fool can do, then they hit the corner having faith in the miraculous 4 wheel drive system and ooops they were off the road because the car would not tolerate idiots at the wheel.
Yes Audi did make the car more user friendly but i would imagine only after they reviewed the client base and came to the conclusion that some people were not upto the job of handling these speeds on there own and therefore the car was made more user friendly.
Pete.
