I'm open to correction, but:
The compressor is not a turbine in the sense that the exhaust turbine is. It is a centrifugal pump and, as such, I don't think that its action is reversible, i.e. the turbo cannot be driven by applying a pressure differential across the compressor. If the inlet pressure exceeded the compressor's capacity, I believe the air would simply leak back out towards the air filter. In practice, I think what would actually happen is that the system would reach a steady state where the compressor was working as hard as it could and the inlet pressure would not rise any further.
Again, any comments?
