...as much as I'd like a late (DI) 2.0 or early 2.3l 9K as a daily driver, I can't imagine that barge with its McPherson struts being any better in handling than a c900. It just feels, ehm, large..., not a car you really feel 'connected' with :-) Besides, there's spades of development already done to this car and I'm not going to sink $10K+ as well as a few years of my spare time into an old Saab _again_... I think, it's about time I start enjoying my work.

More rugged gearbox, all right, but given that I am already stretching the limits of FWD as it is (aren't we all?), I'd think it's immaterial... I'm guessing 300+ hp would only make things more frustrating, and not really any faster mostly - less weight would definitely be the way to go IMO.

Oh, she used to be an 8vT - but the current (and definitive) config is 2.1 litre 16V (~8.25:1 c.r.) w/ LH 2.2.

OEM rear bar sounds nice to me, but it's not neccesarily a _balance_ problem I'm having right now. She ploughs straight on way too early for my likings when powering out of a bend, but lift-off oversteer seems to be just as dramatic. Somehow, with the old hubs/axle and the 205/55 SP9000's (on too narrow 5.5"rims) grip was much more progressive. Dunno where I lost the plot -didn't change anything to suspension settings, so tires and/or rear axle alignment (is there any with the c900's dead beam axle?) must be playing a part here. Might just put an OEM rear bar on, then play with tire pressures and/or shock settings to redress the balance. What do you think?

Thanks,
Eric
