there are lots of problems. the biggest problem is maintaining a linear a/f curve. we ( seattle saab club) all have experienced the same symptom. way rich follow by way lean. every tweak sold by vendors has not fixed it. the batch fire nature and spark curve of lh2.2 is really a problem. to get over the 200 mark effectively without a totally gross a/f a custom controller is required. our dyno guy laughs at the apex type units. firstly they presume a little more modern system under them other than the lh series and has nothing to do with timing. msd BTM etc are just a analog estimation based on boost and not rpm. that is a very incomplete addition. better than stock in terms of total peaked power but the area under the curve and slope of power curve is very important. the trionic system has a real nice curve. The shap of the curve determines driveability and real world acceleration a car that only makes usable power across a 2k window will be outperformed by a broader curve. the lh is a dog. ya you can give it diarrhea so it shits more in one spot but a proper diet of fuel and spark is the proper answer.

SOOOOO when i read all the i'm so bad with my cobbled together pieces of chrome i say BS. the only one with more logged power than steveY ( 237 at the wheel) is mike9. and he is "only" at 270 or so and he has extensive head mods. compare that with jay hessinger at 409 with a 2 liter nissan. the difference??? a custom fuel and spark map. check out turbo and high tech magazine. listening to the "bad asses" here talk about their kill stories of IS300 and mustangs is like watching ants fight over a dead knat. any modern car with a slight bit of tuning will kick there asses and hand them their head on a plate. to get the power neccessary to run with the big boys is impossible with the extensive list of plastic trinkets they have plastered to their car. And since they know that a dyno will deflate there boastings they refuse to provide facts. I do this for a hobby because i like to paly with engines. i expect my next engine will really kick ass since my plan is 2.5l dsiplacement and 8 injectors. of course there is no transmission that will handle it but that is why i have scavenged 4 spares. a c900 shifts so much torque off the pass wheel that getting that much power to the road is impossible as well. and that has not even started taking into account the fact that these cars are tanks. i just like to suprise microsoft wienies in there 3xx beemers with a beat up 86 saab with crumpled panels. the turbo carrera 4, maserati's, ferrari's 600 hp is300's etc are still gonna get me...them i just ram...a saabs true value.
