Ahh... I see that you missed the point!

The wastegate needs to remain closed till the last moment, which means with a ball-spring unit that there is no flow and the MBC is closed. When the pressure gets to the trigger point, the ball-spring OPENS to allow flow and to activate the wastegate actuator to open to regulate the boost generated by the turbo. So the MBC needs to OPEN quickly and then needs to not be restrictive as the slew rate of the actuator needs to be high.

The MBC and wastegate units both need to open, and time lag needs to be minimized. So does the faster dawes unit have merit for medium boost applications? It might, but will probabley be an incremental improvement and not the desired end point. Someone would need to install both units with single common vent orifice and a couple of A-B ball valves. After driving with these for a while a subjective judgement could be made. A bench test may be valuable developmet tool but we don't drive benches!
