It's especially useful, compared to having nothing at all! As you say, it can give you an idea if you are on the lean or rich side. When it comes down to it, isn't that what's important? Sure, for maximum performance and smoothness, we might like a ruler flat A/F ratio, and the stock systems can provide very close to it. However, not all of us want/can afford a Trionic car, and most non-racers are not ready to go to a full aftermarket fuel system.

All I want to know is whether I am going lean at WOT and full boost, so that my engine doesn't blow itself up. The narrow band sensor and gauge provide that, and also helped me dianose a malfunctioning TPS (would not richen at WOT).
