I don't recommend it. VOM with needle seems easier, except when you realize the lettering are all quite small and fine print. DMM with bar graph might be the best bet, but that also will be rather difficult to read. I think the LED lights of varying color are much easier. Of course, if you have a tweaker to ride with you, no problem, then can watch the gauge. :)
I agree it doesn't need monitoring on a continual basis, but the light show keeps me awake on tired nights. I also have fun imagining what the people behind me are thinking, as my gauge is on top of the dash dead center. I've got a BRIGHT blue LED that activates when my water injection pressure switch trips at 10 psi, that's right below the A/F gauge. If you're behind me and you see green lights followed by piercing blue, forget about catching up! :) Not that I like gadgets or anything..did I mention I have a DTS decoder and have a DVD player and screen on order?
