Nick, I weighed the SSR lightweight wheels last night with the tyres and the total weight of the package came out to 38.5 pounds less lug nuts.
The weight of the 16" stock wheel with tyres came out to 39 pounds, less
lug nuts. Now the weight of the lug nuts (5) was alarming. The stock lug nuts weighed about .7 pounds and the SSR supplied ones came in at 1.1. I advised my client some time ago to go for Porsche style lugnuts (5) which weigh in at a massive .4 pounds add the locking nut at .2 and you're in like flynn. One of the big problems in trying to save unsprung weight is that saving in the wheel area more than likely adds in the tyre area. I try to find a tyre with a low weight and excellent load carrying capacity/spring rate. Dunlop has some excellent lightweight tyres but the spring rate of them are such a pain to tune to the vehicle.
