More of a sprayer, yes. Somewhat injection. Listen ( :
The term "injection" is tossed around quite a bit by several companies. The way I figure it... all in theory... is that the water is turned into a fine mist in front of the intercooler. The SPAL 7.5" pull fan located on the back of the intercooler, pulls the air, along with the mist into the system. Not to mention the intercooler sucking in the air/mist at high boost. I know Spearco's water "injection" system works this way too. It is definatly a "seat of pants" improvment. When I got back from a test drive, after boosting pretty hard, and spraying quite a bit of fluid, I checked under the hood. Took off my intercooler air dam, to see no liquid dripping off of the intercooler, or on the bottom of the engine bay. Either of two things... the heat from the engine bay evaporated all the remaining water, or most of it was sucked into the intercooler. Maybe a combonation of both. From the time of the last boost/spray until the hood was popped in my driveway was probably less than a minute. I boosted/sprayed, pulled in, and popped the hood very fast just to see what would be going on under there. Wish I would have had a timer to figure out just how long it was, lol. It was quick. Either way, interesting.
Where can you find an argricultural atomizer for $5.00? I checked two nurseries, Home Depot, and Lowes. Nothing.
The paint sprayer nozzle is an attachment for the Wagner paint gun. Only $10 with atomizer valve included. I forget what paint it said it was used for, but it was for some lightweight paint, my Dad said (he's a professional painter for 25 years). The water sprays a mist when the system is activated. Just added a 1/4" threaded brass fitting onto the extension it to make it attach the tubing.
I found a $15 pressure switch from Hobbs which I will probably order in the next day or so, then I can save my right hand for steering & shifting, which it should be doing! ( : What do you think... set it to 4psi?
I know you and Nathan have been talking about a homemade system quite a bit recently. He forwarded me your emails which you sent, very interesting stuff there. I agree, this method is crude, but I can definatly feel a major improvment.
I'd like to look into the agricultural mister if you can get me some information. The finer the mist the better of a chance it will enter the system, and be used more efficently.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
