I actually use 225-35-18's for the summer, 225-40-18's at the track & 195-60-15 for the winter.

I also read a test on plus sizing wheels. 15-18 in wheels & were tested at a road coarse. The speeds were recorded going down the strasght as well as at the apex & exit of the turns & total lap time. The test I read (Sport compact car I beleive) had the 17's going the fastest around the track with the 18's close behind. The 16's were 3rd & the drivers stated how the handling suffered over the other larger wheels. The 15's were last due to their excessive sidewall flex & poor steering feel. All the wheels used the same width 205 tire to supposidley keep the traction levels more equivelant. The 18's recorded the fastest times through the majority of the turns (17's were 2nd) but with the added unsprung weight, speed was lost in the straight's which resulted in a lap tims a few tenths back.

I chose 18's for a few reasons including their weight, allows me to use the 330 mm AP brakes I have, & yes, looks! The wheel/tire combo in 18's weight the same or a little less then the SPG rims I weighted with 195-60's. However the AP brakes I have are about half the weight!!

Yes, bigger is not always better nor is bigger always worse! There are wheels available which are light weight & will reduce the unsprung weight. I am sure the wheels tested were all in the 25-30+ lb range especially on the larger wheels & yes, that is BAD!

I get SOOOO tired of the jap/rice boy comments. I do not understand why people feel that just because someone wants to make their car look different & improve the handling of the car that we must be looked upon in that fassion. Even if it only for looks WHO CARES!

here is a pic of my 2 SPG, both with forgeline WC-3 wheels which at least to me are not rice boy or whatever you call them. Check out forgeline.com for info on the wheels
