a better fit?
I was under the impression for my dad's old 9kT and my (second) C900, from the tire shops that a 205 was too wide a tire for a 5.5" rim. And while it could be made to fit on a 5.5" rim, the difference in widths (section and rim widths I think it was?) gave a keystone type shape )if you looked at a cutaway) which would produce undesirable handling because the sidewall wasn't perpendicular to the rim (?)
(if that all makes sense - I'd draw pics, but my ASCII art sucks now :)
