Chad,
I have a heavily Abbott modified 1997 Saab 9000 Aero - ECU, dump valve, hi flow intercooler, 2.5" stainles steel exhaust with hi flow cat, suspension, etc.
In order to get the recquired boost level at 3500rpm in 3rd gear (as per Abbott install instructions), Giles Fairweather at Abbott recommended bypassing the APC with a MBC (Forge).
I have not found this to be a problem since I run 98 Octane Shell Optimax fuel, however I would prefer to retain the APC.
Whilst the car is fast and is pulling max boost to around 1.3/1.4, I have a constant nagging impression that the car isn't performing as well as I believe it could/should.
Anyway, I am upgrading to a MapTun Stage 4 which retains the Saab APC. MapTun seem to have a far better understanding of the Saab Trionic ECU code and, therefore, are able to offer a better and "blueprinted" ECU upgrade.
Cheers
Anthony
