I did some more experimenting today

'91 9kt (Stage II SQR ecu, 3" downpipe and high-flow cat). Accelerating at WOT from about 2000 rpm, the boost goes to mid-red by about 2500 rpm, from 3000 to 3500 starts dropping to mid red/yellow dashed, then by 4500 drops to the bottom of red/yellow and stays there to redline. Tried 3rd and 4th gear so that the tach wouldn't move so fast.
So I'm wondering if this isn't so much a detonation issue as maybe the turbo unable to meet the high flow demands at higher rpm. It's a '91 9kt with a Garrett (sp) turbo, forget which one, but I know it's a popular upgrade. Hmm, what to do. Probably do the following:
1. When calibrated gauge arrives, calibrate in-dash boost gauge and see what the actual boost values are.
2. Adjust base boost to 0.5 psi higher than stock, then re-measure peak boost.
3. Change rear muffler to eliminate pulsating backpressure from Flowmaster. Also get a K&N intake filter.
4. I think I'll probably go with H2O injection and the Forge 007 (easy to remember shorthand model # - always wanted a Bond accessory on my car).
Any and all suggestions welcome. Greg- thanks for the excellent Forge analysis.
Thanks everyone for your help.
