Hello jak, it's great that you're getting the good head from a 900 (2.1) rather than a mid year 9000 as you'll have the intake manifold, fuel rail, and fuel pressure regulator (especially the bracket!). The 2.1 head will out flow a ported '86 - '93 2.0 head so besides the gasket matching just do a little extra work on the short side radius's and the bowl area. We only remove metal from the chambers to unshroud the valves, not sure if you should remove any "bumps"??? I ask Stephan at Lesco about it and he said it may me too thin in that area but he's cutting up a junk 2.1 head next week anyway to check various thicknesses and he said he will slice through that portion of the combustion chamber to see if the bump is hollow or not? Also remember that a 2.1 head has 2 more cc's in the chamber than an '86 up 2.0 head. I have a great way to do the critical short side radius's yourself if you would like to try it. Also make sure that your machine shop doesn't glass bead your head while doing the valve work without removing the oil gallery plugs to properly finish clean the head for assembly. Use the 2.0 head gasket as the 2.1 gasket being for a 3mm bigger bore would leave a gap that can cause an unburned fuel problem. By the way what pistons do you have? Take care, Dave
