Still stock ECU, but still trying...might do the 1999 9-3 HOT ECU next.
My boost in third was about 1/3rd into the red prior to the SMBC, but it would immediately back off so that I could just see the red behind the needle (so it was in the red, by a needle width and a hair). Now I can get it almost 1/2 into the red and it will back down to about a 1/3 into the red. I guess that means that I have the SMBC set at around 12 psi??
I am pretty sure that I am getting an overshoot, just not enough to get the ECU to step in...yet (I think cold weather will affect it). I think I am going to spend a few hours fooling around with the SMBC setting this week and see if I can force an overshoot.
I don't know if this is a viable solution yet, time will tell. I am also worried that the ECU cannot control boost when knocking is detected. Will the ECU cut spark, cut the fuel or try to limit boost when knock is first detected?
