turbo silencer?
TBTC mod?
air box 3" duct mod? <-- you will hear a lot of turbo and whoosh
You have a 98 T5. The Viggen IC is really helping a lot.
SMBC: Did you block off the MBC's bleed orifice?
The intent of the SMBC is to not increase boost beyond what the ECU wants to do. You have clearly adjusted the SMBC well beyond that threshold. But you are not geting pressure overshoots, or are you.
The BPV does not vent excess pressure, but at those pressures, yes it might not be working well. If its moans or toots when the boost is just transitioning, then, yes, only a metal valve will stop that. A BOV will work, but you or your wife may not be happy with the vehicle making shotgun blasts of air discharge noise. There are a few metal BPV to choose from.
Please tell me if you are getting pressure overshoots.
So I would not call this a SMBC, as you have adjusted it to another level. This will be hard to define with a terminaology that does not create confusion. But with a T5, anything that you can do that does not create fuel cuts would be fair game. But if you have pressure overshoots, you might be better off with a MBC + anticipator. But that would take some trials to eval.
You really have too much pressure for traction in the lower gears. That is a concern. There have been some reports that suggest that ECU's are not black and white on the over boost. Some seem to wait and see then become more and more intolerant of overboost and get fuel cut happy.
You could rig an electric valve to control a set of two bleed orifices. Put a switch in the gear shift to trigger on 1st gear. Thats the big problem. Granny starting in 1st makes things rather slow.
