for all who posted in this thread...
121 cu in engine lets say 80%VE, so rough calculations would place air flow @ 6000 rpms at around 160 ft^3 /min, and this is for a non turbocharged engine, so the flow of a turbo engine would be much higher.
Anyway, my point, the velocity of the air flowing into the engine is VERY high does anyone really think that wrapping the intercooler pipes is going to make a noticible, measureable difference in performance? Especially at high rpms when the intake velocity is taken into consideration?
You also have to think about the temp of the air coming out of the intercooler, how much cooler is it then the ambient air in the engine bay?, or even the cylinder head?
The intake air may heat up a little bit but I doubt it would make any difference concerning the performance.
Not to shoot down your idea, this is just a response to everyone who has done this or wants to. Jet hot would look nice in the engine bay but as far as gains go, unless your intake pipe is ontop of the exhaust manifold wraps, coatings or plastic aint gonna do ya much good.
but what do i know,
cutic
